  “Climate neutrality and cost-effectiveness are not mutually exclusive – but they must be considered together from the very beginning. A holistic approach is key: compact structures, optimized building envelopes, and robust systems rather than technological overengineering.”

 

• Question 2: Renovation – What are the most common mistakes in renovation planning – and how can you avoid them?
  “The biggest mistake is taking action without a strategy – many people renovate piecemeal, thereby hindering future steps. Our recommendation: first, conduct a thorough assessment of the existing conditions; then, develop a clear renovation plan; and finally, carry it out.”

 

• Question 3: Circular economy – How can the circular economy be effectively integrated into the construction process?
  “It starts with the planning phase: selecting materials, ensuring they can be dismantled, and maintaining consistent documentation through a material pass. Certification systems such as DGNB help make these criteria measurable and verifiable.”

 

• Question 4: CSRD & ESG – What do CSRD and ESG requirements actually mean for building owners and investors?
  “Any company that cannot bring its building portfolio into compliance with ESG standards faces financing and marketing challenges. We help our clients collect the relevant metrics and prioritize the implementation of measures – so that ESG creates real value rather than administrative burden.”

 

• Question 5: BIM – What role does BIM play in modern building physics and sustainability consulting?
  “For us, BIM is not an end in itself, but a practical tool – from energy simulations in new construction to digital material passports and ESG databases. Those who consistently use BIM benefit from better documentation, fewer errors, and greater transparency throughout a building’s entire lifecycle.”

  “The role is becoming more strategic and is being integrated earlier in the process – because the most effective decisions are made during the early planning phases. At the same time, consulting must become more robust, data-driven, and process-reliable.”

CSZ Berlin is setting the course for its next phase of development: As of April 1, Mohamad Hussein has taken over as site manager. Mr. Hussein is responsible for the Technical Equipment division and stands out for his high level of technical expertise, fresh perspectives, and strong entrepreneurial mindset. With his external experience, Mr. Hussein brings valuable insights to the team. He will help further strengthen the Berlin office both substantively, through the further development of our service portfolio, and organizationally, through clear responsibilities and future-proof processes. The goal is to further increase our performance, consistently ensure quality, and expand CSZ Berlin’s market position in the long term.

CSZ in Munster continues to evolve: Our representative office has become a subsidiary of full legal capacity. This step marks a significant milestone in the development of our location—and at the same time sends a strong signal regarding the quality, stability, and performance of our local team. The doors are open for the little forest sprites
The new daycare center “Henry’s Little Forest Elves” on Magdeburger Straße in Pohlheim was presented to the public at the end of February during an open house. Ms. Gülcan Subasi, managing director of CSZ Ingenieurconsult Bauphysik GmbH & Co. KG, was on site for the opening. The daycare center was officially opened with the symbolic handover of keys by Mayor Andreas Ruck to Christian Betz, Chairman of the Marburg-Gießen district association of the German Red Cross. It offers space for up to 125 children in several group areas.

Modern timber construction with sustainable technology
The single-story new building, constructed using solid timber, covers around 1,400 m². Bright group rooms, quiet areas, and spacious play corridors create a modern and functional environment for everyday life at the daycare center. The facilities are complemented by a multifunctional and exercise room, which can also be used by Pohlheim clubs. The building is equipped with a photovoltaic system and air-to-water heat pumps, combining sustainable construction with modern building technology.

CSZ took over specialist planning
CSZ took over specialist planning for structural design, building physics, and fire protection in the project, thereby supporting key engineering aspects of the new building. We are delighted to have used our planning expertise to lay the foundations for creative play, learning, and discovery—and wish the “little forest elves” a great start in their new premises.
