With a dedicated team of 14 staff members, #CSZ Darmstadt successfully took part in this year’s #BASF Company Cup. The event, which set a new record with 17,000 participants, took place on the historic 5.2 km circuit at the #Hockenheimring.

For the CSZ Darmstadt team, the focus was on the shared experience. In the special atmosphere of the racetrack at sunset, all the runners completed the distance with flying colours. The event was a resounding success for the company and impressively highlighted the positive blend of sporting commitment, the joy of exercise and genuine team spirit.

Daniel Pister put in a particularly remarkable performance, demonstrating his versatility and sporting spirit. He first competed in the Inline Skating Cup, setting a new personal best, before also joining the Laufcup team.

CSZ looks back on a successful event and is already looking forward to future sporting challenges. The companies subsidiarys will also be represented at further corporate runs in Hamburg and Frankfurt to further strengthen team spirit.

A special moment for the Schillerschule in Bensheim-Auerbach: today’s symbolic ground-breaking ceremony marked the official start of construction on the new canteen.

The Bergstraße district is investing around 4.6 million euros in a modern facility that will provide up to 400 pupils with a meal every day from 2027 onwards.

The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony was carried out jointly by District Administrator Christian Engelhardt (Bergstraße District), Mayor Christine Klein (Town of Bensheim), Headteacher Sylvia Meier, and pupil representatives Mila Seeger and Bastian Wulff.

Christoph Schulze was on site on behalf of CSZ. We are delighted to be responsible for the structural engineering and building physics for this project, thereby contributing to a sustainable school infrastructure.

It was the 1990s: the extension to the City Library in the Justus Liebig House was a significant step for Darmstadt at the time, as usage, collections and the need for public spaces had grown considerably over the years.

At the time, the Darmstadt City Council commissioned CSZ to carry out a feasibility study, as well as structural engineering, façade design and planning services relating to sound and thermal insulation and room acoustics.

Particularly exciting: the integration into the old town centre presented challenging engineering tasks. Among other things, the structure had to be founded above an existing substation, on the outer wall of an underground car park and in the rock and gravel of the Rhine Graben, with the loads transferred to load-bearing areas via central bracing.

We look back with pride on projects that have helped shape our home town. The extension to the municipal library is one such project: a place for learning, socialising and discovering countless little stories about Darmstadt amongst the bookshelves. After all, good architectural design does more than just create spaces; it creates places that become part of city life.

• Question 3: Circular economy – How can the circular economy be effectively integrated into the construction process?
  “It starts with the planning phase: selecting materials, ensuring they can be dismantled, and maintaining consistent documentation through a material pass. Certification systems such as DGNB help make these criteria measurable and verifiable.”

 

• Question 4: CSRD & ESG – What do CSRD and ESG requirements actually mean for building owners and investors?
  “Any company that cannot bring its building portfolio into compliance with ESG standards faces financing and marketing challenges. We help our clients collect the relevant metrics and prioritize the implementation of measures – so that ESG creates real value rather than administrative burden.”

 

• Question 5: BIM – What role does BIM play in modern building physics and sustainability consulting?
  “For us, BIM is not an end in itself, but a practical tool – from energy simulations in new construction to digital material passports and ESG databases. Those who consistently use BIM benefit from better documentation, fewer errors, and greater transparency throughout a building’s entire lifecycle.”
