What You Will Do
- Use your structural engineering experience and practical knowledge to lead project teams delivering a variety of projects, including new building design, renovations, assessments, and reports, taking responsibility as a Professional Engineer for the design and completion of the project.
- Develop budgets and work plans and supervise completion of the project scope to achieve high-quality work on schedule through all phases from initial concept through design and construction. You will drive the overall project progress to achieve top performance from yourself, team members, and exceptional deliverables.
- Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, analysis models, drawings, specifications, and reports, and coordinate the structural work with other disciplines and team members, including in-house integrated teams and external consultants.
- Visit sites for general review of structural work for new construction or for preparation of structural assessments of existing buildings.
- Provide technical coaching to project team members and support junior team members with mentorship as they advance as structural engineers.
- Support and maintain existing client relationships and develop new relationships with clients and industry affiliates. Engage in proposal writing and other business development activities.
- Support management in acquisitions, tenders, and national/international competitions.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering, Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in structural consulting, with experience leading design teams, and a track record of successfully delivering high-quality designs on budget.
- Experience with the design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures, seismic design, and building codes.
- Experience with structural design software (such as RFEM, RSTAB, SOFiSTik, Tekla Structures, WoodWorks, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with people at all levels, including project stakeholders and clients.
- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills. Previous supervisory and project management experience in a consulting environment is an asset.
- A strong network of contacts, including clients, especially in the private sector, is an asset.
- Bilingual in English/German is a plus.
