April 18 is International Monuments Day β an occasion to recognize the value of monuments and historic buildings and highlight their importance for future generations. At CSZ, we are committed to the preservation and sustainable renovation of this architecture every day. Today we present some of the projects that we have supported with our expertise.
Β π°Β Rheinsberg Castle β Restoration of a historical masterpiece.
Rheinsberg Castle, built in 1736, is a prime example of the preservation of historic buildings. Now used as a museum, music academy and event venue, CSZ was responsible for the overall planning, including the basic assessment, structural design and construction supervision. In particular, the assessment of crack and settlement damage as well as the safety measures were decisive for the preservation of the castle.
Β π Hessian State Museum Darmstadt β Optimization of the indoor climate.
During the general refurbishment of the Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt, CSZ supported the optimization of the indoor climate. The large skylights caused the building to heat up considerably in summer. We were able to achieve valuable improvements for the museum with targeted consulting services on heat and moisture protection as well as thermal simulations.
Β π€ Palais Lanz Mannheim β monument protection and inventory.
Palais Lanz in Mannheim, built in 1913, is considered the largest preserved monument of French Belle Γpoque architecture in Germany. CSZ prepared a comprehensive inventory of the structural design, technical equipment and renovation of the roof and faΓ§ade. Our expert opinion helped to fulfill all monument protection requirements and to secure the palace for the future.
Β π‘ Offenbach manor house β renovation of a historic building for modern living.
The manor house in Offenbach, built in 1912, was converted into a modern residential building with ten high-quality apartments. CSZ was responsible for the structural design, building physics and fire protection. The challenge was to preserve the charm of the historic substance while at the same time meeting modern living requirements β from the spacious living room in the former dining room to barrier-free use thanks to the retrofitted elevator.
Β π Heritage conservation as a responsibility for the future.
International Monuments Day reminds us how important it is not only to preserve historic buildings, but also to make them fit for the future. At CSZ, we see ourselves as a partner for the preservation of monuments. With our expertise in the fields of structural design, building physics, fire protection and renovation, we make a decisive contribution to protecting these unique buildings for future generations and preserving their historical significance.
